Usually I get to meet both bride and groom before the wedding, not so with this one: I met the groom for the first time in the church, minutes before getting married! David lives and works in Afghanistan and only came back to the UK a couple of days prior to his wedding day. Lucky for him his bride was very organised, brought one of her bridesmaids to our initial meeting on location and made sure there were several hundred butterflies folded from paper ready to decorate the Elmgrove Centre.
There were several things that stood out on the day, apart from the above mentioned hundreds of butterflies. My favourite were the most amazing shoes Gillian had chosen to wear with her wedding dress! I love it when brides have a little fun with their shoes selection. The other clever decision were the everlasting butterfly bouquets for bride and bridesmaids. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love flower bouquets and had one at my own wedding. But I was also a little sad I couldn’t keep it and therefore like bouquets that keep. I listed a link to a bouquet made from enamel flower brooch on my page ‘Wedding Stuff I like and recommend’. Lust but not least Gillian and David’s song choice to leave the church to left everyone in tears of laughter: Abba – take a chance on me! Now enjoy the photos.
