The Temple of Minerva in the Botanical Gardens is a romantic and intimate wedding venue tucked away in the heart of Bath. Surrounded by greenery and classical architecture, it offers a peaceful, almost secret-garden feel for ceremonies. Its elegant stone columns and natural setting make it a beautiful choice for couples wanting something relaxed yet full of character.
Temple of Minerva – the Perfect Bath Wedding Venue
The Temple of Minerva, built in the early 20th century, is the perfect wedding location for couples who want a ceremony surrounded by nature and quiet beauty. Set within the Botanical Gardens, it feels calm, romantic, and tucked away from the busier parts of the city. It is named after Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom, arts, and strategy. It offers a beautiful blend of history, symbolism, and elegance. The gardens themselves are beautifully kept, with seasonal flowers, winding paths, and mature trees creating a soft, natural atmosphere. Every direction offers stunning photography backdrops, from floral borders to elegant stonework. The classical design of the temple adds structure and charm without overpowering the setting. It’s a wonderful choice for couples who want their wedding to feel relaxed, personal, and visually beautiful.

Wedding Celebrations at the Temple of Minerva in the Botanical Gardens
The lawns beside the Temple of Minerva offer a wonderfully flexible space for relaxed wedding celebrations. Couples can enjoy a laid-back picnic, drinks and nibbles, or classic lawn games with guests in the sunshine. The open space also works beautifully for more structured celebrations, including marquee receptions. Being surrounded by greenery keeps everything feeling informal yet thoughtfully curated. It’s an ideal option for couples who want their wedding day to flow naturally and feel unforced.
The central location of the Botanical Gardens makes it easy to continue the celebrations elsewhere in the city. Many couples choose to move into the evening at one of Bath’s well-loved restaurants, such as Walcot House or The Huntsman. This creates a relaxed transition from ceremony to dinner without the need for long travel times. Guests can enjoy Bath’s atmosphere as they walk through the city together. It’s a brilliant way to combine a peaceful outdoor ceremony with a lively, sociable evening celebration.

“I wish we could give more than 5 stars for just how amazing Betty was and how she captured our intimate ‘bijou’ wedding at the Botanical gardens in Bath so perfectly. We only had Betty for a couple of hours, but she managed to somehow make the photos feel like she had been with us all day and she made sure that she captured every moment perfectly and without anything feeling rushed. She managed to blend in perfectly and with such a good eye for detail, manage to catch some really special moments of both us and our wider family members and some absolutely beautiful ones of us both in the gardens after the ceremony, in such a short amount of time and especially on such a hot day. Betty we can’t thank you enough, you exceeded all expectations and our wedding party members commented on how brilliant, friendly and talented you were on the day and how stunning all the photos you captured were. Thank you for creating such perfect memories of a perfect day!”
