My 100 best wedding photos from 2021
And I’m not going to lie – this was a strange post-pandemic year!
How to sum up a busy year after a year as hard as 2020? I’m a little lost for words.
Most of my 2020 bookings moved to 2021; some of them got pushed even further to 2022 for a variety of reasons, mostly uncertainty and ongoing travel problems. At the same time a global pandemic seems to have caused people to stop procrastinating. As a consequence I had a lot of last minute bookings for small and microweddings.
Being a wedding photographer or in fact any wedding supplier in 2021 was hard work, as we tried to cram two years of work into one. I’m not trying to be ungrateful as I enjoyed every wedding I photographed this year. But it was tiring, particularly since we started the year emotionally drained already. It was my couple’s joy, their family’s happiness ad te vibrancy of the celebrations that carried us all through!
But with every bad comes so much good!
Having said all that, the emotional strain from 2020 has made almost all weddings this year to much sweeter and more truthful! And this filtered through into all the photograph I have taken. I have witnessed and captured many moments of people getting together for the first time since the worldwide lockdown and consequently many happy tears were shed. and many excellent parties celebrated ;)!
With every bad comes so much good – we are more present than ever, we hug our family members that little bit longer and we enjoy get togethers – like weddings – so much more!
So here are around 100 of my favourite photos from my favourite wedding venues, amongst others Eggbeer Farm, Bailbrook House, the Assembly Rooms, the Roman Baths and Priston Mill – I hope you enjoy them! xx
“Betty photographed our wedding at the Bath Assembly Rooms in July and was perfect throughout the entire process. Our first meeting (virtual due to COVID) really put us at ease as Betty took on all our requests and went above and beyond making suggestions on all sorts of details of the day as we had very little wedding experience! Ahead of the wedding, she travelled to meet us at the venue, again giving some fantastic suggestions and helping us visualise the day.
On the day, I can’t state how brilliant Betty was. She was never ‘in the way’ or imposing, meaning some great candid shots, but also was excellent at organising ourselves and guests for some group shots and portraits. Had lovely positive comments from many of the guests as well. The end result was a simply stunning gallery of photos. I could not have asked for anything more – everything was absolutely perfect!“
Molly and Seb got married in July 2021 at the Assembly Rooms in Bath
