Bath Guildhall & Pulteney Princess Wedding Photography

Dear Betty, We have been going through our pictures today and we have to say that we think you did an amazing job to capture the spirit of all the guests and the ceremony in the Guild Hall. We are so lucky that we came to the wedding show in Bristol and found you, even though I was feeling quite silly walking around at my age with groom badge attached!! But we found you and are very grateful for this fact. You are a true professional and a master of your craft. Best regard, Ray & Vetty

I first met Vetty & Ray at the West of England Wedding Show back in February and I think it’s fair to say we got on straight away. Being the second marriage for both of them, they wanted to keep the wedding small and intimate with only a few essential hours of photography.  I love when you have role reversals: Vetty was given away by one of her sons! And the almost two year old flower girl enthusiastically ran into Alkmaar Room at the Guildhall, leading the way for the bride. They were very lucky with the weather – it rained before and it rained after, but it didn’t rain while I photographed the ceremony or the portraits adjacent to Bath’s famous Pulteney Bridge! When we were done with all essential portraits of guests from nearby and afar, the wedding party took the Pulteney Princess up to Bathampton to their restaurant. A short but thoroughly sweet affair this day was!

Hey Betty, just wanted to let you know we received the pics and love them, thank you so much for all your hard work and great artistic eye, they really are special, how the hell are we going to pic the ones to go in frames!! Xx Emma & Alex

When I started my first job in London (as an architect) ten years ago, I met and became friends with Sarah, the bride’s older sister. In all that time I only met Emma once, she contacted and booked me one year in advance of her Valentine’s Day wedding at the beautiful Fanhams Hall Hotel in Hertfordshire.

If you live in the south west of the country you might remember the rain and storms we had on that day. I vividly remember the radio news warning people not to travel that day. Oh well, I travelled three hours each way to photograph this wedding and have no regrets! Fanhams Hall Hotel is breathtakingly beautiful, the outside of the building as well as the gardens are so sculptured.

I arrived well in time to shoot everyone getting ready. It was a fun affair with many of the bride’s friends and their children in the bride’s suite! I then joined the groom and guests in the great hall where the ceremony took place. After the drinks reception we quickly ventured out in the rain for some portraits with the Hall in the background. I particularly like the shot with the best man and the maid of honour holding the umbrellas and looking miserable! All this was followed by food and speeches. I love speeches at weddings! In most cases I don’t personally know the bride and groom and it gives me a short, but very personal insight into their lives and personalities.

Enough talk, now enjoy the photographs of this year’s Valentine’s Day wedding!

Bath Guildhall & Pumprooms Wedding Photography

Bath Guildhall & Pumprooms Wedding Photography

Back in June I ventured into town to photograph Natasha and Michael’s beautiful wedding ceremony at the Guildhall and the following reception at the Pump Rooms in Bath. Natasha got herself ready at the Hilton Hotel which is only a few minutes walk from the Guildhall. I have to say that she is an absolute master at doing her own makeup as she looked stunning! Once ready we walked over to the Guildhall, following by Natasha’s family and observed by many shoppers and tourists. The ceremony was held at the smaller Russell Room which fits around 15 people.

After the ceremony we walked around town for a while to take some stunning and personal portraits of the newly weds. The guy holding up the Subway sign made me laugh as he is making an inappropriate gesture (I appologise if this offends you but I actually think it adds to the photo). Once we arrived at the Pump Rooms, all the guests took seats in the Drawing Room which offered a beautiful and private setting for food, cutting the cake and speeches.  This was one of many weddings I brought my old Polaroid 110 camera to and as usual these little one-off photographs received a lot of admiration. Now enjoy looking through my photos.

Guildhall & Bath Spa MacDonald Hotel Wedding Photography

Guildhall & Bath Spa MacDonald Hotel Wedding Photography

Hi Betty, We have just returned home from Riga and the photos were waiting for us. Thank you very much for these pieces of art. The photos are amazing, wonderful, stunning and we will begin sharing them among our guest and family! Thank you once again for the day, you spent and captured with us! Wish you many great moments to capture in the future! All the best, Elina & Alex

Elina and Alex’s admitted that things were planned and booked very last minute for this Bath wedding, but my God, did they do a great job! Elina, Alex and families got ready in a spacious B&B and Elina wore my personal 2013 favourite wedding dress, a beautiful and classic dress by Pronovias.

I met Elina and Alex at their B&B ‘Greenways’ where both of them as well as their families were getting ready. Luckily Elina chose to get ready in the lounge with the stunning big window behind her. Once both were ready I headed to Bath Guildhall together with the groom where we awaited the arrival of the bride. The ceremony took place in the beautiful Alkmaar Room which is fairly large and takes a good amount of people. The ceremony was followed by some quick drinks in Parade Gardens followed by (brace yourselves) a three hour portrait shoot with bride and groom! As I particularly like taking creative portraits I was in heaven. We spent some time walking through the town centre for photos and then drove around in a little City Car and visited some of Bath’s most beautiful sights. After three hours we were cold, hungry and exhausted, but I was so happy to have taken so many wonderful pictures – some of my best portraits ever! They ended the day with a relaxed meal and celebrations at the Bath Spa McDonald Hotel.

So here comes an epic selection of images. Enjoy!

Redland Parish Chruch & Elmgrove Centre Bristol | Gillian & David’s Wedding

Usually I get to meet both bride and groom before the wedding, not so with this one: I met the groom for the first time in the church, minutes before getting married! David lives and works in Afghanistan and only came back to the UK a couple of days prior to his wedding day. Lucky for him his bride was very organised, brought one of her bridesmaids to our initial meeting on location and made sure there were several hundred butterflies folded from paper ready to decorate the Elmgrove Centre.

There were several things that stood out on the day, apart from the above mentioned hundreds of butterflies. My favourite were the most amazing shoes Gillian had chosen to wear with her wedding dress! I love it when brides have a little fun with their shoes selection. The other clever decision were the everlasting butterfly bouquets for bride and bridesmaids. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love flower bouquets and had one at my own wedding. But I was also a little sad I couldn’t keep it and therefore like bouquets that keep. I listed a link to a bouquet made from enamel flower brooch on my page ‘Wedding Stuff I like and recommend’. Lust but not least Gillian and David’s song choice to leave the church to left everyone in tears of laughter: Abba – take a chance on me! Now enjoy the photos.
