Jennie & Tim’s Wedding | Coppleridge Inn in Dorset

Jennie & Tim’s Wedding | Coppleridge Inn in Dorset

Hi Betty, Thought I’d say how nice the little photo box was, and how fantastic the photos really are. We’re really pleased with them and it only confirmed our decision that you were the correct (best) photographer! They really do look great. I love the creativity and thought put into all of them.  There are some really special as well as humorous and fun shots. Thank you once again. Tim & Jennie

This wedding took place at beginning of September just outside Bridgewater. I went over to the bride’s parents house first where she got ready, together with her bridesmaids. I then left the girls to take a few portraits of the groom at the church, just a kilometer away from the bride’s parents house. It was wonderful to capture the groom’s expression as he saw his bride walking down the aisle. The wedding reception took place at the Coppleridge Inn in Dorset. The blue barn made a great backdrop for some portraits, so did the adjacent woods. All in all a fabulous day!

Amazing, thank you so much, you were a wonderful photographer and we had a great day. The lavender photo is beautiful and we loved our Polaroid photos! Jen & Phil

I have been to many glamorous wedding venues but what makes the Royal Crescent Hotel stand out is their one of a kind service. You are always treated with such exceptional friendliness and professionalism. But maybe I’m just a sucker for the odd bit of glamour. The sommelier gave me a hand kiss once. 😉

In addition the Royal Crescent Hotel is one of the best hotels in town. Did you know that a daytime ceremony and sit down dinner cost substantially less than an evening ceremony? Oh and some of the girls working in nurseries offer weekend childcare for events like this. The two girls watching the two little girls were called ‘Wedding Angles’.

I met Jen and Phil through a mutual friend of mine and we got on very well immediately! They have two small (gorgeous!) daughters who were very much part of the ceremony. It was hilarious: the three year old decided to dismantle her beautiful flower bouquet during the ceremony. All that was left was a puddle of petal. But: kept her busy and quiet while mummy and daddy got married.

Amy & James’ Wedding | Greenway Farm Bridgewater Somerset

Amy & James’ Wedding | Greenway Farm Bridgewater Somerset

Hi Betty, We just wanted to say thank you for our beautiful wedding photos! We really love them and have spent many happy hours flicking through them re-living the day. We really enjoyed having you around; thanks so much for making the photography side of the day relaxed and fun! Best wishes, Amy & James

I don’t think I have been to another wedding that was decorated with as much love as this one! Test tubes with lavender in them hanging of trees. Freshly picked wild flowers in glass jars on the tables as well as for the bride and bridesmaids. Hundreds of meters of colourful bunting around the marque and garden. Just beautiful!

Amy and James celebrated at Greenway Farm in Bridgewater, a farm with a beautiful barn for the wedding ceremonies and a big marque to celebrate. They also rear their own pigs, one of which was spit-roasted for the wedding guests. Amy and her three bridesmaids got ready in a B&B nearby. I was particularly intrigued by the multiway dresses from InIneClothing. It’s one style of dress that you can wrap in multiple ways and are therefore ideal for bridesmaids.

Initially Amy and James had planned their ceremony to take place outside but it was almost 30 degrees Celsius outside so they opted for the shaded and cooler barn. A fun and very natural humanist ceremony was followed by drinks and games in the garden. And they even had a special guest joining their speeches: the cousin joined via Skype all the way from California! Enjoy the photographs.

Stella & Dennis | Destination Wedding Germany

Stella & Dennis | Destination Wedding Germany

September 2012 was a good months because I shot two very beautiful weddings. The first one was in my homeland Germany just outside Düsseldorf in Kaiserswerth. The bride Stella has been a great friend of mine since we were teenagers and I was there 17 years ago when she started dating her now husband. Their relationship is one of the best love stories I know!

I started off by visiting the Stella and Dennis at their hotel. They got ready is separate rooms that were located next to each other so it was easy for me to see them both getting ready. Once they were both ready, Dennis picked Stella up at her room and they travelled to the church together. The ceremony was held at the Stadtkirche in Kaiserswerth, followed by the reception at the Burghof. ‘Burg’ means castle and the Burghof was located next to the ruins of an old castle which of course we used in our portrait session. The Burghof was also situated next to the river Rhine which provided us with the perfect backdrop for some sunset portraits.

Photographing a friend’s wedding always is a bit of a mixed blessing. It’s the biggest honour to play an important role in your friend’s special day and create an ever lasting memory for them. On the other hand I inevitably know quite a few of the guests and naturally find it hard to not get involved in conversations. I find being honest and clear about my roles (photographer versus guest) works best. Until a certain time I am at work. When the job is done and everyone is happy, I will be the guest and raise my glass to the bride & groom! Prost, liebe Stella und lieber Dennis!!

Hedingham Castle | Laura & Mark’s Wedding

Hedingham Castle | Laura & Mark’s Wedding

A month ago I was lucky to photograph this wedding together with very talented German wedding photographer Roland Michels who shot my own wedding a few years back. Our couple Laura and Mark celebrated their wedding in beautiful Hedingham Castle in Essex. I left home at the crack of dawn to drive from Bath to Essex via Heathrow Airport where I collected Roland. When you arrive at Hedingham Castle you catch a glimpse of the magnificent old castle through the trees and it doesn’t fail to impress.

Here is a selection of my photos from their celebration in Essex.
