About Betty Bhandari

Bath based documentary wedding photographer.

Also known as Betty Boo, Betts, Mami and sometimes cloth-ear.

Rather than tell you the long story about becoming a wedding photographer the long way round, I tell you ten interesting things about myself:

1. My full name is Bettina but everyone calls me Betty.

2. I’m born & bred German and moved to the UK in 2001. I’ve lived in the UK ever since and feel very at home in beautiful Bath.

3. My surname is Indian through marriage. It’s pronounced Ban-dah-ree. Just ignore the silent h.

4. I used to be a fully qualified architect working in London for ten years. But photography is my first love (I started taking portraits of everyone around me aged 20) and since 2012 it is my full time career choice which I couldn’t be happier with.

5. I’m a Nikon girl which is my dad’s fault because he had a Nikon FE2 which was the first camera I properly photographed with (I still have the camera). Today I am a registered professional Nikon user and only use the best cameras and lenses.

6. I’m bilingual which has come in very handy for German-English weddings.

7. I always have a camera with me, whether it is my Nikon z6ii, Fuji XT1 (for personal work) or my android smart phone. Consequentially I’m never without any of these three.

8. I am a totally foodie and passionate gardener so therefore we eat something home made like jam / kraut / pickles or home grown from our allotment every day.

9. Before I moved to Bath, I lived in London for ten years where I worked as an architect and eventually  fell in love with my neighbour now husband.

10. I am a mother of two beautiful kids and wife of what I still think is the greatest man I have ever dated.
